Acupuncture

Acupuncture increases blood circulation and releases endorphins which promote relaxation. There is very little pain associated with acupuncture for the majority of people. While some patients feel only a slight pin prick, distention, heaviness and soreness- others feel nothing at all. Unlike hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are very thin-about the diameter of a single human hair. It is even common for some patients to fall asleep during a treatment. After your first visit, you may experience mild aching, bruising, or slight swelling where the needles were inserted. These symptoms are not serious and do not indicate a problem. As the healing process begins these symptoms will pass and your condition will begin to improve. During treatment, some people have noted a sense of euphoria. After your session, you may feel tired for up to 3 days. During this time, your body is cleansing and eliminating the toxins and poisonous waste that have built up in the blood stream. Fatigue is a normal part of the healing process and may be a positive sign that the treatment is working. It is important to relax and refrain from rigorous physical activity after treatment. You may return to your normal routine, careful to avoid overexertion as this could delay the healing process.
